ABOUT US

Family Carols

TPS Family Carols is such a ‘do not miss’ event for so many in our locality that it generally sells out very quickly. That afternoon the Chapel of St Augustine, Tonbridge School, is filled with soft candlelight and you can hear a hum of great anticipation from old and young alike. A wonderful selection of carols and Christmas songs is sung by our choir, with contributions from other groups to give variety and sparkle. Add to the music a number of readings appropriate for the season, and you have a moving and uplifting start to Christmas for the 600+ people in the audience.

Sadly, Family Carols 2020 cannot happen in its usual beautiful setting or with its usual musical forces – or with its usual large and appreciative audience. Instead, members of Tonbridge Philharmonic Choir are recording a montage of traditional carols, to be interspersed with three lessons. This will be a shorter, virtual version of the much-loved local festive occasion so that you don’t miss out on your usual start to the Christmas season.

It will be uploaded to YouTube on Sunday 20th December, the fourth Sunday of Advent, so sit back in the comfort of your own home and enjoy the music and the words that are so special to all of us.
