Jane started playing the tenor cor aged 11 with lessons and the instrument provided by her school in Sunderland. As she showed promise the school then bought her a French Horn. On leaving school, and having saved up for 2 years, Jane bought her own horn and has been playing ever since.

Jane played in the Folkestone Symphony orchestra for more than 20 years and then, on moving to
S E London, the Dulwich Symphony orchestra. She joined TPS in 2008, after moving to East Sussex.

Jane also plays in the Sevenoaks and Tonbridge concert band, North Downs Sinfonia, a wind quintet and a wind octet and other ad hoc chamber groups, orchestras and bands.

Jane retired from her position as exams officer at Uplands School, Wadhurst in 2012. Other jobs included 20 years with Seeboard and 4 years with the Crown Prosecution Service, in various admin roles.

Jane took up the position of orchestral chair in 2021.
