On Wednesday 4th November, just hours before Lockdown 2.0 began, live singing took place with members of TPS Choir following Covid secure guidelines in the sports hall at Hilden Grange. It was a cold evening, but spirits were warm for the 17 choir members, led by Music Director Ben Westerman and accompanist Jong-Gyung Park. Ben conducted behind a perspex screen and had a radio microphone which meant he did not have to raise his voice. We sang several of the pieces from the recent Zoom rehearsals, as well as the Fauré’s Cantique de Jean Racine, part of the postponed March 2020 concert programme. As one member commented, “Singing together again after such a long time was quite an emotional experience which demonstrated the power of singing together in harmony and our shared love of wonderful music. Despite the cold air and fingers too numb to turn the pages, I went home glowing and very happy to have taken part.”
