Local children create pictures for an exhibition – TPS in partnership with The Wheels on Debussy. On Saturday 15th February, members of Tonbridge Philharmonic Orchestra joined forces with children’s concert organisation The Wheels on Debussy in an outreach project to celebrate the orchestral concert on 22nd February, featuring Mussorgsky’s ‘Pictures At An Exhibition’. In the upper rooms at St. Peter and St. Paul’s Church, musicians from the orchestra played special arrangements from Mussorgsky’s popular piece, including the Promenade, The Old Castle, Baba Yaga and The Gate of Kiev. The arrangements were written for the occasion by orchestral chair Steve Minton for Flute, French Horn, Cello and Saxophone. The children were introduced to the instruments, listened to the musical extracts, marched to the promenade music, and then created their own Mussorgsky-inspired pictures for display at the concert!
