Christopher Harris has been accompanist of the Tonbridge Philharmonic Society since 2006. He was born in Tunbridge Wells and now lives in Crowborough where he works as a freelance musician and repetiteur. He studied music at Jesus College, Oxford, as organ scholar, specialising in the medieval music of Britain and Europe.
Before going to University, he gained the FRCO diploma. Christopher has given organ recitals in venues such as Westminster Abbey, Chichester Cathedral, St Martin-in-the-Fields and Queen’s College, Oxford and has accompanied services in many of the cathedrals of Southern and eastern England. He is continuo player for Crowborough Baroque and the Corelli Ensemble and accompanist to The Sackville Singers. He is conductor of the Chancel Singers and the Hartfield Singers.
Susan Skone James has been our leader since the March 2014 Concert. She is no stranger to the orchestra, having led the second violin section for 14 years. Susan was a junior exhibitioner at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and currently leads the Shoreham Sinfonia and Hurst Green Sinfonia. Susan is also a member of the Medway String Quartet, together with our former music director Robin Morrish, his wife Penelope Howard, and our principal cellist, Danny Kingshill.
